A preview of work across the space in the spring of 2022.
For the spring, we would like to build on our raw data’s capabilities. Now that we have two great partners in MIT Solve and Lever for Change, we want to see what types of insights we can make from their data. This, broadly, falls into two categories.
First, is what we are calling Philanthrolytics, a platform that provides analytical insights and metrics into Grant Commons data.
Second, is what we are calling Philanthrobotics, a supplementary platform that provides predictive insights into Grants Commons data.
We hope that both of these will be hand-in-hand in 2022, but we have already been developing aspects of Philanthrolytics, by helping Solve draw insights from some of their demographic data.
Below you will find a brief list of public and private projects we hope to take on, along with a short sentence describing the work, what organization it is associated with, and the platform that it is associated with expanding in 2022. This is a living/breathing list that will be updated with progress reports throughout the 2022 calendar year.
Works in Progress
Recruiting demographics by geographic location - MIT Solve - Philanthrolytics
Expanding insights into existing geographic recruiting
Data Extraction Tools - Lever for Change - Philanthrolytics
Employees want an easy and accessible way to ask questions about their data. Instead of offering pre-baked Tableau visualizations, can we make a tool that renders visualizations based on their questions?
Language application models from survey responses - MIT Solve - Philanthrobotics
Answering questions like “what makes a successful applicant?”, “can we predict successful applicants?”, “can we build translation tools that make an application more successful”
Data alignment - Lever+
Shared schemas for proposal data + metadata
Common application questions for shared subsets of applications
Common review questions for peer reviewers (mainly: first-pass review)
To see the more granular of these tasks planned out, you can follow along on this Notion page (below) which lets you see the Gantt chart of what we are currently working on.
